Planning Areas Framework
The General Plan serves as the foundation for all community-based plans that guide development in the unincorporated areas, such as Area Plans, Specific Plans, and Coastal Land Use Plans. The Planning Areas Framework of the General Plan divide the County into 11 Planning Areas. The purpose of the Planning Areas Framework is to provide a mechanism for local communities to collaborate with the County in developing plans that reflect their unique and diverse character.
