Conceptual SEAs are back!

The Significant Ecological Areas (SEA) boundaries were adopted through the General Plan in 2015. Certain areas in Altadena, Hacienda Heights, and Rowland Heights were categorized as “Conceptual SEAs” and these boundaries were not adopted at that time. Although the Conceptual SEAs were analyzed in the same manner as the adopted SEAs in the General Plan Environmental Impact Report, the Regional Planning Commission required additional review and outreach for compatibility with community plans and public engagement for these specific communities.

Through recent outreach meetings for the SEA Ordinance update and the East San Gabriel Valley Area Plan, we have been hearing great interest from the communities supporting the adoption of the Conceptual SEA boundaries. Because of your support and interest, the adoption of the Conceptual SEAs boundaries will be completed along with the ongoing SEA Ordinance update in 2018. As we update the SEA Ordinance, we will review the community plans of Altadena, Hacienda Heights, and Rowland Heights for compatibility with the Conceptual SEAs. We will be engaging with the communities in the next coming months, so please visit our Meetings Page for our updated outreach schedule.

Use our GIS mapping program to see if your property is within a Conceptual SEA or contact us directly at sea@planning.lacounty.gov for more information.
