Bridge Fire Assistance

Overview

On September 10, 2024, the LA County Board of Supervisors declared a local emergency for the Bridge Fire. This declaration allows LA County to use all necessary resources towards the impacted unincorporated communities of Wrightwood and Mt. Baldy. For maps of affected areas and LA County recovery assistance, please visit https://recovery.lacounty.gov/bridgefire/

Disaster Recovery

LA County’s Disaster Recovery Ordinance allows for temporary housing and accessory structures on properties that contained a legally established single-family residence, accessory dwelling unit, caretaker’s residence, or farmworker dwelling unit.

The Ordinance also allows for like-for-like replacements to aid repairing or rebuilding buildings and structures damaged or destroyed by a disaster.

Rebuild Process

To begin the rebuild process, it is important to know which planning department is responsible for reviewing and approving your application. LA County Planning is your planning department if you are located in an LA County unincorporated community. To learn if LA County is your planning department, please use our Jurisdiction Lookup Tool (scroll to the bottom of the website) at https://planning.lacounty.gov/

For information about LA County Planning Bridge Fire assistance, please see the Bridge Fire Recovery Information Sheet.

How do I apply?

Please make sure to request a preliminary review from the Fire Department through EPIC-LA prior to submitting an application to LA County Planning. For assistance from the Fire Department, call the Fire Prevention Division at 323-890-4132 or email Richard.Stillwagon@fire.lacounty.gov

To apply for temporary housing and/or starting the rebuilding process, please start the application process online at EPIC-LA.  Please note that property owners interested in applying for temporary housing or rebuilding on a property that was impacted by the fire must show proof that disposal of burn debris has been completed to the satisfaction of the County before an application is accepted. To learn more about the debris removal process, please visit https://pw.lacounty.gov/epd/Bridge_Fire/

Applications must be filed within two years of a declaration of emergency. See the Rebuild Application Process Flowchart below for more details.
