Planning Permits

Standard ADU Plans Program - County Catalog

The following plans have been pre-approved by LA County Planning and Public Works Building & Safety. They are free to the public.

TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION

    1. Download the plans set for Plan A, B, or C above.
    2. Create a site plan for your property, depicting the following:
      • Street(s) to the centerline
      • On-site access roads
      • Easements
      • All existing structures
      • Proposed ADU location
      • Setbacks to the property lines
      • Setbacks between structures
      • Septic and well locations, if applicable
      • Oak trees, if applicable
      • Fences and walls
      • Vehicle parking
      • Vehicle back-up
      • Driveway widths
      • Landscaping
    3. Insert the site plan into the first page of the plan set.
    4. Fill in all other information on the first page of the plan set, including Vicinity Map, Owner Information, Contact Information, Project Information, Pervious Area Information and Impervious Area Information.
    5. Review the Land Use Checklist to determine the other required application materials.
    6. Submit an online “DRP-Base Application-Permits and Review” via EPIC-LA. Upload the complete plan set and all other required materials. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Online application instructions: https://planning.lacounty.gov/how-do-i/file-an-application/.
    7. In the Project Description for the online Base Application, indicate that you are using Standard ADU Plan A, B, or C.
    8. Once your case has been assigned to a Planner, they will check your application for completeness, send you an invoice, and proceed with review and approval.
