Disaster Recovery

Overview

LA County’s Disaster Recovery Ordinance allows for temporary housing and accessory structures on properties that contained a legally established single-family residence, accessory dwelling unit, caretaker’s residence, or farmworker dwelling unit.

The Ordinance also allows for like-for-like replacements to aid repairing or rebuilding buildings and structures damaged or destroyed by a disaster.

To begin the rebuild  or temporary housing process, it is important to know which planning department is responsible for reviewing and approving your application. LA County Planning is your planning department if you are located in an LA County unincorporated community.
