There are 15 airports in LA County, including commercial airports such as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Long Beach, Burbank, and Palmdale.
Airport land use planning looks at how compatible an airport is with surrounding land uses. Each airport must have a land use compatibility plan.
The Airport Land Use Commission reviews, promotes, and ensures land use compatibility surrounding airports in LA County.
Event
The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning is updating the Los Angeles County Airport Land Use Plan (“ALUP”). The ALUP is a countywide plan that ensures that land development around airports is compatible with airport operations. This update includes the development of the Cable Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (“CALUCP”), which will provide guidelines and standards for land development within the Cable Airport Influence Area (“AIA”).
The LA County ALUP was adopted in 1991 and was last updated in 2004. Cable Airport is located within San Bernadino County; however, part of the Cable Airport AIA covers territory within Los Angeles County (primarily within the City of Claremont). As a result, the CALUCP must be developed, reviewed and approved by the Los Angeles County Airport Land Use Commission. LA County Planning staff is working with the City of Claremont to draft the Cable Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan and to update the Countywide ALUP.
Please join us for an in-person / virtual workshop in which the project team will present a summary and analysis of the project. After the presentation, the project team will be available to discuss the project with the public and answer community members’ questions.
