HOW DO I REPORT A ZONING VIOLATION?

When reporting a violation please have the following information: 

  • Location of the property including address and cross streets, and if possible, assessor parcel number (APN). 
  • Description of the possible violation. Provide as much detail as possible. For example, is the violation in the house, garage, shed, commercial building, etc. 
  • Provide details of any safety concerns.  
  • You may provide us your name and contact information to provide you updates. All information remains confidential. 

There are multiple ways to report a violation or request an update:

211 LA County Helpline. Community Resource Advisors will take down your complaint in writing and forward it to ALL applicable County agencies. Just dial 2-1-1 within LA County or call (800) 339-6993. They are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

HOW DO I REPORT VIOLATIONS THAT ARE NOT RELATED TO ZONING?

To report violations that are not enforceable by Zoning Enforcement, such as violations within the public right of way (e.g., sidewalks, medians, streets etc.) and contact other County agencies, please see Additional Resources.
