Upcoming Events: Parks After Dark, Antelope Valley Valley Fever Walk

Starting next week, we’ll be in the AV for some great events and we’d love to meet you – day or night!

Parks After Dark

In late July and early August, we’ll be joining in all the fun that is the Parks After Dark program! This FREE event is great to bring the family as they have classes and activities for all ages, including cooking and art classes for kids and adults, movie night, family hip hop, and lip sync battle! For those interested in sports, they also host boxing, cheer, soccer, football, softball, basketball… and the list goes on!

We’ll be there at the Resource Fair from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to meet with folks and share information about the AV CSDs project. We’ll even have giveaways to share!

  • Friday, July 27, 2018: George Lane Park, Quartz Hill
  • Saturday, July 28, 2018: Jackie Robinson Park, Sun Village
  • Friday, August 3, 2018: Stephen Sorensen Park, Lake Los Angeles

Please see this Parks After Dark map for these and all of the parks participating this summer!

Antelope Valley Valley Fever Walk

Department of Regional Planning table with information and giveaways

On Saturday, August 4, 2018, we will also be out at the second annual Valley Fever Walk at Apollo Park in Lancaster! This event is sponsored by the AV Valley Fever Alliance, a non-profit organization whose mission is to decrease fugitive dust and increase valley fever awareness through translation of scientific research to real world application.

The second annual walk is a FREE event that’s open to the public, and family and pet-friendly. In addition to the walk, there will be entertainment, vendors, a raffle, face painting, and games for the kids. The event will be from 8:00 AM to noon.

We’ll be there to meet with folks and share information about the AV CSDs project. And we’ll have more of those fun giveaways to share!

We hope you’ll stop by to learn more about the project, or just say “Hi!”
