Altadena Listening Session #2

LA County Planning would like to invite members of the Altadena community to attend the second of three listening sessions covering topics related to planning projects in Altadena that are currently underway. The session topics and dates are as follows:

  1. Economic Development – Saturday 9/19
  2. Land Use/Zoning – Saturday 10/17
  3. Infrastructure – Saturday 12/12

During the listening sessions, LA County staff will provide information on existing or proposed Altadena-related programs and projects, listen to and gather community feedback, seek to better understand community needs and interests, and brainstorm on how to address community needs. The next meeting in the series will focus on Land Use and Zoning issues in Altadena and look at potential updates and revisions to relevant zoning codes.

Listening Session Meeting – 10/17

Meeting Topic: Land Use and Zoning in Altadena, especially as it may be related to Altadena Community Standards District and rebuilding efforts after the Eaton Fire.

Meeting Location: The Collaboratory (540 West Woodbury Road, Altadena, CA 91001)

Meeting Format: The listening session will consist of two parts:

  1. Presentations by LA County Planning Staff introducing relevant zoning regulations and land use policies that impact Altadena.
  2. Facilitated discussions with small groups of attendees to receive feedback and ideas related to the zoning code, rebuilding regulations, and land use policies that affect Altadena.

The brief presentations on current Land Use and Zoning issues will be aimed at introducing the zoning code and land use policies to residents, design standards that apply to specific types of development projects in Altadena, and the Disaster Recovery Ordinance and the associated provisions aimed at facilitating the rebuilding process for property owners.

Meeting Structure and Agenda:

  • 9:30am – 10:00am – Coffee, Snacks, and Information Tables
  • 10:00am – 10:50am – Zoning and Land Use Presentations
  • 11:00am – 11:50am – Facilitated Small Group Discussions and Brainstorming
  • 12:00pm – 12:30pm – Snacks, Information Tables, and Informal Discussion
