On February 7, 2023, the County Board of Supervisors adopted a motion directing LA County Planning to prepare an ordinance to amend Title 22 (Planning and Zoning) of the Los Angeles County Code to enhance gun regulation in Los Angeles County. For the unincorporated areas of LA County, the proposed ordinance defines and prohibits gun dealers within 1000 feet of a sensitive use, identifies the permit or review required to establish the principal use, limits the hours of operations, and prohibits the discharge or firing on premises. The Ordinance requires a Conditional Use Permit for new gun dealers where permitted. The Gun Dealer Ordinance amends Title 22 to align with updates to licensing requirements in Title 7 (Business Licenses).
