From wildfire and drought to rising sea levels and flooding, we're all affected by climate change. And the problem is getting worse.

In coming years, experts predict summers will get dryer and winters will get wetter. That means more droughts, local heat waves, destructive wildfires, rising sea levels, and more frequent coastal flooding. As residents of Los Angeles County, these issues affect us all personally, socially, and economically. It affects how we do business, how we travel, how we grow food, and how we live our daily lives. Everything about our lifestyle can be upturned because of climate change—and when you look at the bigger picture, our planet is suffering.

Fortunately, we’re not helpless. Each one of us can take steps to be more aware and prepared to make a difference.

Threats of climate change can have a dramatic impact on much of California. Here in LA County, we are committed to our planet and our local communities. So, we need to take action now. Our goal is simple: to partner with you and provide important resources so you can protect your families and businesses, and fight for our planet’s wellbeing. As part of our commitment, we are:

  • Conducting regular reviews with the latest climate data so we can plan to reduce the risks and prepare for climate change.

  • Encouraging disaster preparedness for all residents in hazard areas.

  • Providing education and tips to help you prepare.
