Why is the Department of Regional Planning (DRP) working on updating these Antelope Valley Community Standards Districts (AV CSDs)?

A Vision for the Antelope Valley

The seeds of this project began many years ago, as far back as 2008, when various communities in the Antelope Valley approached DRP and requested changes to their existing CSDs or a new CSD. Because CSDs are a way to implement the big picture for an area, the Antelope Valley Area Plan (AV Plan) was updated to reflect the vision of the Antelope Valley as a mosaic of unique small towns in which rural lifestyles are cherished.

The AV Plan

The AV Plan included policies and goals for the different communities within the Antelope Valley, as well as the recommendations for comprehensive CSD updates for those communities in order to accomplish those goals.

The AV Plan was approved in 2015, and this AV CSDs project is the implementation of that AV Plan and the culmination of the desires of Antelope Valley residents that had requested the initial updates.

Currently there are 14 CSDs being included in the update process, which includes new and updated CSDs, based on requests DRP received from the various communities. 

So if someone asks why we are working on this project, it’s because it has been requested for some time now by the various communities, and planned for in their very own AV Plan!
