Staff from the Departments of Regional Planning and Public Works will be hosting public outreach meetings in each of the five supervisorial districts from March 12, 2008-March 31, 2008. Come learn more about the County’s Green Building Program, ask questions and tell us what you think!

At the direction of the Board of Supervisors, Regional Planning and Public Works presented a preliminary report on Green Building Standards and Low-Impact Development to the Regional Planning Commission on January 23, 2008.

At the Board of Supervisors meeting on October 23, 2007, staff presented recommendations to the Board regarding Green Building Standards and Low-Impact Design (LID). In turn, motions were made to translate these recommendations into ordinances and incorporate a former motion to create a Drought-Tolerant Landscaping Ordinance.

The following links are to various organizations that deal with green initiatives in building and planning. These sites are resources for green building and development standards, recent developments in environmentally friendly technologies and news about the green movement.
