La Crescenta-Montrose Community Standards District Update

On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted the La Crescenta-Montrose Community Standards District Amendment. The amended Community Standards District will become effective on Thursday, March 12, 2020.

The La Crescenta-Montrose Community Standards District (CSD) Amendment consists of updated design standards for commercial zones along Foothill Boulevard, as well as multi-family properties in R-3 zones. No new development or zone changes are proposed as a part of this ordinance.

- Updated design standards for R-3 zoned multi-family properties are intended to ensure that any new multi-family buildings are designed to be compatible with existing residential neighborhoods.

Overview


As part of the Los Angeles County Zoning Ordinance, the La Crescenta-Montrose Community Standards District (CSD) is a set of supplemental zoning regulations developed especially for, and applicable only within, the unincorporated community of La Crescenta-Montrose. The CSD is a tool to implement the adopted General Plan.


CSD Ordinance updated


On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted the La Crescenta-Montrose Community Standards District Amendment. The amended Community Standards District will become effective on Thursday, March 12, 2020. The amendment consists of updated design standards for commercial zones along Foothill Boulevard, as well as multi-family properties in R-3 zones.

No new development or zone changes are proposed as a part of this ordinance.

  • Updated design standards along Foothill Boulevard are intended to improve the appearance of the corridor and promote walkability. These proposed standards consist of updates to existing architectural, sign, landscaping, and parking requirements.

  • Updated design standards for R-3 zoned multi-family properties are intended to ensure that any new multi-family buildings are designed to be compatible with existing residential neighborhoods. These proposed standards are related to the design, landscaping, and orientation of multi-family buildings.

The CSD sets forth standards and regulations for future development within the CSD boundary areas only. The CSD regulations and associated map are below. The CSD Update only applies to all R-3 zoned properties and the commercially zoned properties along Foothill Boulevard.
