Plan Development and Review
Draft Plan – COMING SOON!
DRP planners are producing the Draft Plan, which will be released to the public for review and comment in Fall 2009. The Draft Plan will be available as an electronic file (PDF) here, and hard copies will be available at the Library, Steinmetz Senior Center, and Supervisor Knabe’s Field Office.
Draft Components
In September 2008, Part A of the Draft Components—the plan’s purpose and process; community character; goals and policies; and, program implementation ideas—was available for public comment and review. Residents, staff from all divisions of the Department of Regional Planning, and County service providers from a full range of departments were invited to share their responses to the content, format and utility of those draft components. For the first time, community members were invited to participate in the review of early drafts to ensure that their vision and goals were accurately reflected. Part A was revised and reformatted according to the comments received to ensure that the Draft Plan will accurately reflect the community’s vision and serve the needs of community and county stakeholders. To see Part A and a summary of the comments provided, see the Plan Development Archive .
Part B contains the proposed land use map, land use report and background report that support the community’s recommendations. Community Plan Update Committee members received an early preview of Part B at the Land Use Meeting in July 2009. At this workshop, planners presented a brief overview of land use and explained the main differences and proposed changes between the adopted and recommended draft land use map. Attendees participated in an interactive exercise to assess how well the recommended draft land use map implements the community vision and shared their suggestions, recommendations, and questions. This input, as well as further input from planners from the Department of Regional Planning will be incorporated to finalize the draft land use map. , pParts A and B of the draft components will then be combined and refined to create the Draft Plan, which will be available in Fall 2009.
