Zoning, Filing a Case or General Questions

Questions about your zoning, case filing or other general information can be answered by our Land Development Coordinating Center. Effective January 3, 2007, staff is available for walk-in assistance and to answer telephone inquiries from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. The office is closed every Friday. Service may also be obtained by emailing zoningldcc@planning.lacounty.gov. We now also accept zoning inquiries by fax at (213) 217-5108. Please allow 14 business days for a response. When inquiring about zoning on a property, please provide the property address and Assessor's Parcel Number as this information will be needed to determine the zoning.

Zone Change or Planning Permit Questions

Questions about planning permit and zone change cases currently being processed can be answered by our Zoning Permits section. General questions about zone changes or planning permits should be directed to our Land Development Coordinating Center. Zoning Permit staff can be reached between the hours 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday, by calling (213) 974-6443. When calling, please have the case number ready as this information will be needed to respond to your inquiry.

Subdivision or Parcel Map (Land Division) Questions

Questions about parcel maps and subdivisions which are currently being processed can be answered by our Land Divisions section. General questions should be directed to our Land Development Coordinating Center. Land Division staff can be reached between the hours 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday, by calling (213) 974-6433. When calling, please have the tract number ready as this information will be needed to respond to your inquiry.

Zoning Violation Questions

Questions about zoning violations can be answered by our Enforcement section. Staff can be reached between the hours 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday, by calling (213) 974-6453. If you would like to report a zoning violation, please send a signed letter indicating the location and nature of the violation to Department of Regional Planning, 320 W. Temple Street, Room 1341, Los Angeles, California 90012.

Plot Plan Questions

The Department of Regional Planning performs plot plan reviews to determine compliance with the Los Angeles County Planning and Zoning Code and any applicable community standards districts. The review determines whether new construction or additions to existing buildings meet the guidelines of the Zoning Ordinance relative to setbacks, parking and related standards. It is an administrative procedure and does not require a public hearing. Questions about plot plans can be answered by our Site Plan Review Section. Staff is available for meetings and telephone calls between the hours 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday; the telephone number is (213) 974-6278. When inquiring about the status of an existing plot plan, please have ready the Plot Plan Number as this information will be needed to determine the case status.
