Access Requirements Ordinance

Access Requirements Ordinance

The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning has prepared the Access Requirements Ordinance that amends Title 22 (Planning and Zoning) of the Los Angeles County Code to ensure safe and orderly development through the provision of adequate physical and legal access to lots or parcels of land. The ordinance requires that applicants provide proof of physical and legal access for most land development projects located on lots or parcels of land that do not directly adjoin and take access from a publicly dedicated right-of-way.

On January 11, 2017, the Regional Planning Commission removed this item from the calendar to allow additional time for public outreach and revision of the draft ordinance that includes limiting applicability to new development on vacant parcels.
